The captain shut off the motor and we quietly floated inside of this submarine cave, which oddly resembled the maw of a giant beast. At one point, a camouflage made of rocks and grass covered the entrance of these tunnels.

Things to Do in Kotor: How Do I Get There?
For those arriving by air, Tivat Airport is the closest to Kotor, just a short drive away. Podgorica Airport is also an option, though it's a bit farther. You can expect a journey of about two hours without traffic.
While there are some bus options, Montenegro is a country best explored by car. Public transportation infrastructure is not built up as it is in other countries. Plus, many of the best places in Montenegro are set further into mountains where typical bus routes may not reach.
If you prefer not to drive, the best option is to hire a driver who can take you around. Drazen, a professional and prompt driver out of Podgorica brought me to and from Kotor. He was amazing! Montenegro is generally considered a safe destination for tourists. The biggest threat you may come across are the cats begging for a taste of your dinner, like the one above.
